Manitowoc, WI – September 5th, 2009 – Championship night at EWSC proved all it was hoped to be. With no divisions securely decided, there was some great racing. Going into the night, TJ Luedke and Lance Fassbender were separated by 39 points in the Sprint Car division. Eleven points was all that separated Russ Scheffler and Tim Buhler in the Late Model Division. In the Grand National division, Brian Gilles and Bob Peter were separated by 44 points. Adam Krepline and Bradley Ruh were separated by 3 points and after the heat races were tied going into the A-Main. Trophy sponsor was Tyler Bein.

Wayne Modjeski (Oak Creek) jumped out to the lead of the 360 MSA Sprint Car, presented by Image 1 Motorsports, 30 lap A-Main from his outside pole position. The first caution of the race came on lap one for the cars of Russ Wetenkamp (Newton), Marlin Bowers (Glen Ellyn, IL), and Terry Marten (Sheboygan Falls) getting together between turns three and four. The field was slowed again on lap four for the car of Robbie Pribnow (Mayville) spinning in turn four. When the field came to the line to be scored on lap four, Brian Kristan (Zion, IL) crossed the line ahead of Modjeski. Jeremy Schultz (Beaver Dam) passed Modjeski on lap five to move into second and was now chasing Kristan down. Kristan encountered lapped traffic on lap ten. The field was slowed on lap 11 for the spinning car of Bowers in turn two. Kurt Davis (Milwaukee) passed Modjeski for third on lap 12. The third caution of the race came on lap 15 for the ride of Tim Haddy coming in contact with the guardrail in turn three. Kristan continued to set the pace and with Schultz and Davis racing for position behind him was able to pull away. As the white flag was displayed on lap 29 the yellow flag also came out for the ride of Paul Pokorski (West Bend) spinning in turn two. Since the white flag was waved, the race was declared finished. Finishing behind Kristan was Schultz, Davis, Luedke, and Modjeski.

Shane Wenninger (Kewaskum) took the lead of the 12 lap Sprint Car B-Main. The field was slowed on lap 1 for the cars of Russ Wetenkamp (Newton) and Randy Walter (Plymouth) getting together in turn three. Wenninger continued to pace the field until the red flag came out on lap seven for the cars of Randy Call (New Berlin) and Lance Thompson (Campbellsport) flipping on the front stretch and the car of Derek Siegel (St. Francis) stalling on the front stretch. On the restart, second place Lance Fassbender (Burnett) was chasing down Wenninger. Fassbender ran out of laps and Wenninger held on to take the win. Finishing behind Wenninger was Fassbender, Jeff Wilke (Genoa, IL), Dave Lisowe (Chilton), and Call.

As the green flag flew for the start of the cautionless 25 lap Late Model A-Main, Pete Parker (Kaukauna) took the early lead. On lap 4, Russ Scheffler (Pewaukee) passed Parker for the lead. Scheffler encountered lapped traffic on lap nine. Scheffler smoothly put several cars between himself and Parker. Scheffler claimed the win followed by Parker, Billy Rezutek (Big Bend), Tim Buhler (Glenbeulah), and Ted Dolhun, Sr. (Milwaukee).

Robert Cullen (Chilton) took the lead of the 12 lap Late Model B-Main. Ron Stroika (Mukwonago) fell into second. On lap four, Scott Sohrweide (Chilton) passed Stroika for second and now had his sights set on Cullen. As the cars came to the line to be scored for lap six, Sohrweide was the leader. Cullen was not going to surrender easily. Sohrweide and Cullen raced each other side by side for several laps. On lap 11, Cullen made the pass on Sohrweide as Sohrweide went to the pits with mechanical problems. Cullen took home the win followed by Tim Carman (Sheboygan Falls), Stroika, George Scheffler (Waukesha), and Kyle Odekirk (Waldo).

Jerry Brickner (Mishicot) found himself in the lead of the 20 lap Grand National feature for the first five laps. On lap six, Bret Koehler (Two Rivers) passed him for the lead. The only caution of the race came on lap 11 for the car of Kevin Lubach (Elkhart Lake) spinning in turn four. As the cars came around on lap 12, Phil Coppersmith (Fultondale, AL) was leading. Making his way through the field from his 12th place starting position, Ben Stumpf (Brillion) passed Coppersmith on lap 19. Stumpf claimed the win and was chased to the line by Jestin Danes (New Holstein), Coppersmith, Jason Winkler (New Holstein), and Brian Gilles (Plymouth).

The 12 lap B-Main went green to checkered. Ryan Mueller (Manitowoc) took the lead from the pole position. Paul Perronne settled into second until lap six when Dan Schumacher (Milwaukee) took over second. Mueller claimed the win followed by Schumacher, Perronne, Brad Juckem (Chilton), and Brian Rathe (Kewaunee).

Going into the 15 lap Hobby Stock A-Main, Adam Krepline (Manitowoc) and Bradley Ruh (Elkhart Lake) were tied for the championship. Greg Herrman (Whitelaw) took control of the 15 lap Hobby Stock A-Main. Ray Fuller (Manitowoc) took control of second. Ryan Minster (Sheboygan) passed Fuller on lap five for second. On lap seven, Herrman encountered lapped traffic. Ruh and Krepline raced side by side for several laps neither one wanting to give in. On lap eight, with some bumping going on, Krepline spun to the infield. Herrman took home the trophy followed by Minster, Jeff Bender (Plymouth), Jeff Leonhard (Sheboygan), and Krepline. Ruh was penalized and scored as the last car on the lead lap.
