Manitowoc, WI – June 5, 2009 – Pole sitter, Lance Fassbender (Burnett), jumped out to take the early lead of the 30 lap 360 Sprint Car A-Main and on lap 5 already encountered lapped traffic. Robbie Pribnow (Mayville) was leading the race when he crossed the line on lap 9. Unfortunately for Pribnow, the caution came out for the spinning car of Joe Wipperfuth (Columbus) before all the cars crossed the line to be scored for lap 9. Going back a lap put Fassbender back in the lead. Fassbender held on to the lead until Pribnow passed him for the lead on lap 15. The field was slowed on lap 19 for the cars of Shane Wenninger (Kewauskum) and Jeff Wilke (Genoa, IL) getting tangled together. Pribnow set the pace on the restart. The pack was slowed one last time on lap 26 for the cars of Tim Haddy (Waupun) and Terry Marten (Sheboygan Falls) getting together. With the lapped cars now put to the back of the lineup, Pribnow was a sitting target for the cars on the lead lap. Lining up behind Pribnow on the restart and setting their sites on Pribnow were Fassbender, TJ Luedke (Plymouth) and Paul Pokorski (West Bend). For the next 4 laps, Pribnow needed to be error free to claim his first EWSC A-Main win of 2009. Doing just that, Pribnow took home the checkers followed by Fassbender, Luedke, Pokorski, and Jason Lax (Kiel).
The 12 lap Sprint Car B-Main saw Scott Conger (Eagle) line up on the outside of the front row and take control of the race from green to checkered. Making their way to the A-Main through the B-Main behind Conger were Scott Mohs (Sheboygan Falls), Randy Call (New Berlin), Scotty Thiel (Sheboygan), and Haddy, and Brandon Thone (Sheboygan).
Bob Cullen (Chilton) controlled the cautionless 25 lap Late Model feature for the first two laps. When the field crossed the line on lap 3, Paul Parker (Appleton) found himself out in front. Smoothly making his way through lapped traffic Parker was on a mission to claim the win. Russ Scheffler (Pewaukee) was looking for his fifth straight feature win of the season and on lap 4 was scored directly behind Parker. Parker had his mind made up that he was not going to allow Scheffler to claim five straight kept his pace to take home his first 2009 EWSC feature win. Crossing behind Parker were Scheffler, Cullen, Pete Parker (Kaukauna), Turk Letizia (Milwaukee), and Tim Buhler (Glenbeulah).
With a big field of Late Models, the fans were treated to a Late Model B-Main. Pole sitter, Kyle Odekirk (Waldo) took the lead at the drop of the green flag for the first two laps. At the line on lap 3, Gordie Seegert, Jr. (Oostburg) took over first place. Seegert and the rest of the field were slowed on lap 5 for the car of Eric Michaels (Cleveland) spinning. Only getting two more laps in, the race was slowed on lap 7 for the car of Ray Reiss. As Seegert was bringing the field to the green flag, the cars of Tim Carman (Sheboygan Falls), Ron Berna (Abrams) and Dingel Bros (Sheboygan) got into an altercation, causing some severe damage, and all three were retired to the pits for the night. Seegert took home the win followed by Odekirk, R.W. Aschenbrenner (Oneida), Al Atkinson (Franklin), and Jim Schmidt (Cleveland).
Ben Stumpf (Brillion) took the lead of the 20 lap Grand National A-Main from the start of the race until lap 9. The cars were slowed on lap 6 for the third place running car, Matt Jackson (Sheboygan) loosing control of his ride in turn 4. Jason Winkler (New Holstein) took the lead away on lap 9. On lap 12, twelfth place starter, Dan Dippel (Plymouth), driving for Bob Peter (Howards Grove) took the bragging rights only to be passed by Jason Winkler on lap 14. Making his way from eleventh place starting spot, Brian Gilles (Plymouth) passed Winkler on lap 16. Gilles showed the way to the checkers followed by Dippel, Winkler, Mike Bastian (Manitowoc), and Jason Dyer (New Holstein).
The 15 lap Hobby Stock feature went green to checkered. Josh McDonald (Manitowoc) led the field for the entire race. Little did McDonald know but Adam Krepline (Manitowoc) wanted back-to-back feature wins. Starting eighth in the race, Krepline made his way to second on lap 6. Krepline put the pressure on McDonald but McDonald kept his composure and crossed the line at the checkered flag. Chasing McDonald was Krepline, Jeff Leonhard (Sheboygan), Ryan Minster (Sheboygan), and Jeff Bender (Plymouth).
