After a 4-wide salute to the fans, Terry Marten and KenJay Fiedler, Sheboygan Falls, brought the field to the line for the drop of the green flag for the 30 lap 360 Sprint Car A-Main. Marten quickly took control of the race while heat winner, Robbie Pribnow of Lomira, who started 9th, kept his sights on Marten. Pribnow patiently worked his way through traffic and on lap 13 crossed the line in front of Marten to take the lead. Travis Luedke, Plymouth, had to qualify for the show through the B-Main and found himself starting18th in the A-Main. He also needed patience to weave his ride through traffic and found himself in 8th place on lap 10. On lap 25, Luedke was in 5th, where he finished the race. Chasing Pribnow to the line was Pete Ostrowski of East Troy, Marten, Fiedler and Luedke. Pole sitter, Jim Schmidt of Cleveland, led the 25 lap Late Model feature until lap 9 when Sheboygan’s Scott Specht took over. Waukesha’s Russ Scheffler started the race 8th and on lap 16 found himself in the top spot. Crossing the line after Scheffler was Specht, Tim Buhler of Glenbeulah, Oostburg’s Gordie Seegert and Tom Naeyaert of Shawano. Scheffler, Specht, Buhler, and Seegert claimed the extra purse money donated by Baleigh Industrial of Manitowoc. Manitowoc’s Mike Bastian was going for 3 in a row when he started the 20 lap Grand National feature. Things were going his way when he was leading the pack on lap 5. Heat winner, Brian Gilles of Plymouth, was trying his hardest to not allow Bastian those bragging rights. Bastian’s reign was short lived when Gilles passed Bastian on lap 9 for the lead and the win. Finishing behind Gilles and Bastian was Phil Coppersmith, Justin Danes, and Brett Wenzel of Two Rivers. Awarded the extra purse money donated by Krajnik Chevrolet of Two Rivers were Gilles, Chris Seehaver and Matt Jackson. Wenzel was the recipient of the extra money donated by Dick Piel. Manitowoc’s Adam Krepline was also going for a 3-peat in the 15 lap Hobby Stock feature but with what sounded like mechanical issues was not able to be in contention. Matt McDonald took the lead on lap 3 from pole sitter, Kris Conard of Manitowoc. Jesse Brey, driving for Mike Plate, Jr., made his way from starting last into the top five by lap 7. Jeff Leonhard lined up next to Brey at the start, through his car into high gear and on lap 3 was in 3rd place. Crossing behind McDonald was Leonhard, Troy Bartel, Brey and Newton’s Mike Kaufman. Leonhard was the recipient of the Chermake “Hot Dog” Hard Charger for passing 9 cars. McDonald collected the extra winner’s money donated by Kari Piel. When Kyle Resch of Manitowoc lined up 4th for the 12 lap Might 4 feature, he had one thing on his mind, 3 consecutive feature wins. Heat winner, Jake Meyer, was not going to make that easy for Resch. Resch and Meyer were 2nd and 3rd, respectively, as they crossed the line after the first circuit. On lap 3, Meyer took control of the race and showed the way to the checkers. Finishing behind Meyer was Greg Gierke of Kiel, Resch, Chris Gilson and Michael Strean. Racing will resume next Friday night, July 11th. Join us for Fox Hills Resort and Lakeside Foods Night at the races. This will also be our Mid-Season Championship and the Pat Rand Memorial. Race Summary 360 Sprints: Heat 1 (10 laps): 1.
