Robbie Pribnow of Mayville started on the pole of the 30 lap Sprint Car A-Main and took the lead at the drop of the green flag. The yellow flag came out after the first completed circuit for the cars of Manitowoc’s Michael Emme and Ben Schmidt of Plymouth getting together in turn 1. Schmidt retired to the pits for the remainder of the night and Emme was able to rejoin the race at the back of the field. On the restart, Pribnow continued to lead as West Bend’s Paul Pokorski was reeling him in. On lap 5, Pokorski crossed the line first to be scored as the leader. Pribnow fought back and the two raced wing to wing for several laps. On lap 11, Pribnow and Pokorski were weaving their way through lapped traffic. The yellow flag came out once again on lap 23 for the car of Al Schlafer of Sussex. Pribnow took home his second EWSC A-Main checkered flag of the year followed by Pokorski, Waupun’s Tim Haddy, Danny Schlafer of Sussex, and Kewaskum’s Shane Wenninger. The Cher-Make “Hot Dog” Hard Charger was Lance Fassbender of Burnett for passing 6 cars.
Jimmy Mars, one of the nation’s best Late Model drivers made a special appearance in Manitowoc to race with the EWSC Late Models. The Mars Racing Team was sponsored by Baileigh Industrial of Manitowoc.
Dan Dippel of Plymouth took the lead of the 25 lap Late Model feature. Oneida’s Ralph Aschenbrenner took the lead on lap 2. The field was slowed for an altercation between Ron Berna of Green Bay, Cleveland’s Jim Schmidt, and Tim Buhler of Glenbeulah. After one more completed lap, the yellow came out again for the spinning car of Craig Schueffner of Sheboygan Falls. Gordie Seegert of Oostburg reeled in Aschenbrenner and took over bragging rights on lap 8. Charging hard to the front, heat winner Mars, who started 15th, passed Seegert on lap 11 for the lead. On lap 14, lapped traffic came into play as Mars put several lapped cars between himself and Seegert for the rest of the race. Chasing Mars and Seegert to the line was Sheboygan Falls’ Tim Carman, Kerry Hansen, and Paul Parker of Appleton. Mars collected the extra $100 donated by Baileigh Industrial.
Reedsville’s Gary Tisler took the lead from the pole of the 20 lap Grand National feature. T.J. Smith of Menasha lost control of his car on lap 1 and brought out the yellow flag. After several more completed laps, the yellow was shown again for the cars of Manitowoc’s Josh McDonald and Jason Winkler of New Holstein getting together. Manitowoc’s Chris Seehaver took the lead on lap 8. Heat winner Brett Wenzel of Two Rivers and Plymouth’s Brian Gilles both had the same goal in mind, to catch Seehaver and take home the checkers. Wenzel caught Seehaver and passed him on lap 15 to take home his first EWSC feature checkered flag of the year. Following Wenzel was Gilles, Kenny Richards, Seehaver, and Mike Bastian of Manitowoc. Claiming the extra purse money donated by Krajnik Chevrolet of Two Rivers was New Holstein’s Chad Kistner.
Manitowoc’s Matt McDonald took control of the caution free 15 lap Hobby Stock feature with Travis Hanson and Adam Krepline of Manitowoc in hot pursuit. McDonald, Krepline, and Hanson were 3 wide in turn 3 of the final lap and Krepline nosed out McDonald for his 6th feature checkered flag of the year. Rounding out the top 5 were Hansen, Sheboygan’s Jeff Leonhard and Gary Vandenhouten.
Kyle Resch of Manitowoc, who won his heat race, got a good start in the 15 lap Mighty 4 feature. After the first lap, Resch was already leading after starting 3rd. Pole sitter Greg Gierke of Kiel took his spot back on the next lap. Heat winner Matt Janke of Mequon had his mind set on back to back feature wins and shot to the front. He took the lead over on lap 3 and set the pace to the checkered flag. Crossing after Janke was Mark Kuhfass, Jake Meyer, Resch, and Plymouth’s Amber Rabe.
Racing will resume on Labor Day Weekend, Saturday, August 30, and Sunday, August 31. We will run a full racing program each night. There will be a two hour early start both nights. Gates open at 2:30 with racing scheduled to start at 5:00. There will be an increased purse in the Late Model division thanks to Baileigh Industrial of Manitowoc.
