The 30 lap 360 Sprint Car A-main got off to a slow start with 2 cautions on the first lap. The first caution was for the car of Plymouth’s TJ Luedke spinning in turn 2. The second caution of the lap was for the rides of Michael Emme of Manitowoc and Waupun’s Tim Haddy getting together, retiring both to the pits for the remainder of the night. Lance Fassbender of Burnett lined up on the outside of the front row and at the drop of the green flag took control of the race. On lap 7, Fassbender started to encounter lapped traffic and easily maneuvered his car around the traffic. In hot pursuit, Sussex’s Al Schlafer would not allow Fassbender out of his site. After a hard flip on July 26th that side lined him for 3 weeks to heal, Robbie Pribbnow of Mayville was back in the seat of his winged warrior and was chasing the leaders down. Pribbnow found himself behind Schlafer on lap 17. On the white flag lap, Sheboygan’s Scotty Thiel and Russ Wetenkamp of Manitowoc got together in turn 2 bringing out the checkers. Fassbender won his 3rd consecutive A-Main, making that 7 for the year, followed by Schlafer, Pribbnow, Wayne Modjeski of Oak Creek, and Sussex’s Danny Schlafer.

Howie Weiss of Glenbeulah jumped out to the lead of the 25 lap Late Model feature. On lap 5, Sheboygan’s Randy Markwardt crossed the line ahead of Weiss to be scored in the lead. Charging hard to the front was Ron Berna of Green Bay and Craig Schueffner of Sheboygan Falls. Berna and Schueffner were in second and third, respectively, on lap 11. Lap 12 saw the only caution of the race as Weiss, Oneida’s RW Aschenbrenner, and Frank Geiger of Whitelaw got tangled together. Weiss would take his car to the pits and would not be able to make it back on the track. Aschenbrenner and Geiger would join the back of the field for the restart. Berna and Markwardt battled door to door for several laps and on the last lap, Berna passed Markwardt for the win. Rounding out the top five were Schueffner, Todd Jensema of Sheboygan Falls and Shawano’s Tom Naeyaert. Berna picked up the extra $100 donated by Baileigh Industrial of Manitowoc.

Heat winner, Brian Gilles of Plymouth, took home his 7th Grand National feature, 3rd in a row, checkered flag of the year from Manitowoc County Expo Speedway. Gilles took control of the 20 lap race and didn’t look back. Two River’s Brett Wenzel was chasing Gilles but ran out of laps to run him down. Finishing behind Gilles and Wenzel was Sheboygan’s Matt Jackson, Mike Bastian of Manitowoc, and Plymouth’s Phil Coppersmith. Josh McDonald of Plymouth was awarded the extra $50 donated by Krajnik Chevrolet of Two Rivers. The Cher-Make “Hot Dog” Hard Charger was Brett Wenzel for passing 11 cars.

The 15 lap Hobby Stock feature saw Matt McDonald of Manitowoc take the lead with Newton’s Mike Kaufmann reeling him in. On lap 8, Kaufmann passed McDonald for the lead but it was short lived. On lap 10, Jeff Leonhard of Sheboygan passed Kaufmann for the front spot. McDonald would not settle for anything less than the top spot and on lap 13 passed Leonhard for the lead and the win. Finishing behind McDonald and Leonhard was Gary Vandenhouten, Mike Rausch of Two Rivers, and Manitowoc’s Josh Schroeder.

Mequon’s Matt Janke took the lead after the first circuit of the 12 lap Mighty 4 feature race. Janke paced the field the entire race with a good battle behind him for second. Greg Gierke of Kiel and Manitowoc’s Kyle Resch swapped spots several times before Gierke passed Resch for the final time on lap 10 for second. Finishing behind Resch was Chris Gilson of Elkhart Lake and Sheboygan’s Michael Strean. Janke picked up the extra $25 donated by an anonymous donor.
