Manitowoc, WI.; August 12, 2006 -Butch Hafemann of Campbellsport jumped into the early lead in the Winged Super Modified 30-lap A-Main with Steve Bricker of Two Rivers charging into second behind him just before a yellow flag caution halted the racing action in lap two and relined up the field. When the green flag flew, Bricker charged out in front to take over the lead with Hafemann and Chuck Tuschl of Reedsville chasing him down. As Tim McMullen of Plymouth pulled inside Tyler Hansen of Manitowoc to challenge him for fourth coming out of turn four, Paul Pokorski of West Bend had just enough of an opening between the two competitors and charged in the middle. Down the front stretch and at the line, only inches separated the three hard-charging Modifieds with McMullen scored fourth, Pokorski fifth and Hansen sixth.

Paul Pokorski (#4) was back in victory lane after topping the Winged Super Modified main event Saturday evening at the Manitowoc County Expo Raceway.
Bob Peter (#97) saluted the crowd after winning his first career Grand National Sportsman feature victory.
Bob Cullen (#8) earned fast qualifying honors in the Grand National Sportsman division.
Scott Haugstad (#38) earned a trip to victory lane after winning the Limited Late Model heat.
Brett Koehler (#65) continued his winning ways in Eastern Eight feature action.
Tim Jorgensen (#18) won both 15 lap feature contests which were presented in the All-American Mighty 4 division.

A lap later, Tuschl made his move and passed Hafemann to take over second behind leader Bricker who had built a suitable cushion over second place. After lap five was completed, another yellow flag pulled Bricker back to the front of the field with Tuschl and Hafemann behind him. When the green flag flew, Tuschl wasted no time and charged into turn one pulling beside Bricker. As Bricker and Tuschl flew through the corner, Tuschl passed Bricker for the lead coming out of turn two. Bricker stuck to Tuschl and crossed the line a lap later almost even with the leader. Tuschl charged hard into the corner to pull ahead of Bricker as Pokorski threw his car to the outside to attempt to pass for second. Bricker held him off to tuck his car to the inside to once again challenge for the lead just before a yellow flag cut the momentum and relined up the field. Tuschl charged into the lead again at the drop of the green flag with Pokorski used his outside restart position to take over second place as Billy Hafemann of Waldo moved into fourth behind Bricker. A lap later, Pokorski tucked his car to the inside of Tuschl coming out of turn four to take over the lead. As Pokorski started putting distance between his car and second place, Bricker made his charge inside Tuschl to take over second by inches in lap 14. Two laps later, McMullen made his move and charged passed both Hafemann and Tuschl to take over third. By lap 17, leader Pokorski started lapping traffic with Bricker and McMullen weaving through the cars to catch him. As Pokorski seemed locked into the win, a final yellow flag halted the racing in lap 24 to move the challengers directly behind the leader for a 6-lap dash to the checkered. When the final green flag flew, Pokorski wasted no time in charging out in front with Bricker and McMullen chasing him down. Hafemann made his move three laps later and passed McMullen for third. At the checkered flag, Pokorski won his sixth A-Main of the season with heat winner Bricker, heat winner Billy Hafemann, McMullen and Butch Hafemann rounding out the top five.

In the Limited Late Model A-Main, Scott Haugstad of Plymouth charged into the early lead with Dave Schaetzer and Mark Dingel, both of Sheboygan, chasing him down. At the line in the third lap, the top three charged around the track tightly packed as Dan Dippel of Plymouth and Howie Weiss of Glenbeulah battled side by side for fourth. Haugstad charged out in front of the field which left a four car battle for second with Schaetzer, Dingel, Dippel and Weiss racing side by side sometime three abreast down the straightaways. Schaetzer and Dippel broke free and charged after leader Haugstad. As Schaetzer threw his car to the outside to challenge for the lead, Dippel chose the low side of the track to catch up to the leader. Dippel passed Schaetzer by inches to take over second in lap nine. As Dippel and Schaetzer caught up to Haugstad, the three threw their cars into turn three. Schaetzer, running the high side of the track, passed for the lead coming out of turn four with Dippel in the middle and in second by inches at the line. Dippel continued his charge and a lap later took over the lead with four laps to go. At the checkered flag, Dippel won his ninth A-Main of the season. Schaetzer followed in second with heat winner Haugstad in third.

In a hard-charging battle, twenty competitors lined up for the Grand National A-Main with Dale Damrow of Sheboygan jumping into the early lead with Bob Peter of Howards Grove chasing him down. Through a couple early yellows, Damrow held off the challenges and continued to lead. At the line in lap four, Damrow charged in the lead with Peter and Brett Wenzel of Two Rivers chasing him down. Last week’s feature winner Gregg Haese and Jerry Wenzel, both of Two Rivers, raced side by side down the front stretch battling for fourth. Two laps later, Damrow seemed to lose power as he slowed slightly coming out of turn four and Peter seized the opportunity to take over the lead. A lap later, Haese continued the charge and passed Damrow to take over second and pull alongside leader Peter. Haese and Peter raced around the entire track side by side with Haese inching out the lead. Before the lap could be completed, a yellow flag halted the hard-charging action and relined up the field by the last lap completed under green flag conditions. Peter lined up back in the front and during the restart, Haese had to pit with a flat tire leaving Jerry Wenzel of Two Rivers and Jason Winkler of New Holstein directly behind Peter. As the green flag flew, Peter was determined and jumped out in the lead again with Wenzel and Bob Cullen of Chilton chasing him down. Cullen passed Wenzel to take over second on lap nine but Wenzel charged back and retook the challenge spot a lap later. The one-minute-per-lap time limit was hit and cause the race to be shortened with a green-white-checkered finish. At the checkered flag, Peter charged through to win his first A-Main of the season. Wenzel followed in second with fast qualifier Cullen, Nick Schumacher of Eagle and Tim Thompson of Campbellsport rounding out the top five.

In the first leg of the Mighty 4 Twin 15-lap challenge, Tim Jorgenson charged out into the lead at the line in the first lap until the only red flag appeared for a car on fire in lap six. On the restart, Jorgenson lined up in front with Josh Torrison of Sheboygan and Amber Rabe of Plymouth behind him. When the green flag flew, Jorgenson jumped ahead again but this time Rabe stuck to the back of his car and charged after him. Turn after turn, Rabe pressured Jorgenson for the lead but Jorgenson held her off to win the first 15-lap race. Heat winner Rabe followed in second with Torrison in third.

After inverting the finish of the first race, the second Twin Mighty 4 A-Main started with Rabe charging from the fourth row to the lead all in the first lap. After an early yellow flag in lap two, Jorgenson charged passed Rabe when the green flag restarted the race. Rabe charged back and pulled outside Jorgenson down the back stretch before the race was halted again. Rabe was ready for the challenge but a flat tire sent her to the pits leaving Jorgenson out in front alone on the restart. Tim Simon of St. Peter and Mark Kuhfuss of Howards Grove lined up behind leader Jorgenson to take the green flag. Kuhfuss charged passed Simon to take over second and chase down Jorgenson. At the checkered flag, Jorgenson held Kuhfuss at bay to win the second A-Main and the combined overall win. Heat winner Kuhfuss followed in second with Simon following in third.

In the Eastern 8 A-Main, Paul Nelesen of Mishicot jumped into the early lead with Mike Kaufmann of Newton chasing him down. Three laps into the race, Nelesen charged hard into turns three and four and opened the door slightly for Kaufmann who charged right through to take over the lead. Behind leader Kaufmann and Nelesen, Troy Bartel of Chilton and Bret Koehler of Two Rivers battled side by side for third. Two laps later, Koehler secured the position but had track to make up to catch the top two cars. Debris on the track pulled the frontrunners back in closer to the field. When the green flag flew, Kaufmann once again charged into the lead with Koehler moving into second. Adam Krepline of Manitowoc moved into third behind them and all three charged the high side of the track in a battle for the win. As Kaufmann and Koehler threw their cars into turn three, Koehler tucked his car to the inside and the two charged side by side through turn four and down the front stretch with Koehler taking over control of the race with two laps to go. At the white flag, Krepline charged passed Kaufmann to take second place. As the checkered flag flew, heat winner Koehler won his fifth A-Main of the season. After winning his heat, Krepline followed in second with Kaufmann finishing third.
