Grand National Meeting Set

Manitowoc, WI.  August 3, 2006 - Grand National Meeting August 16th @ Racers Hall - Plymouth

Current Point standing car counts at tracks that had a general Grand
National Division.
Oshkosh - 36
Chilton - 42
EWSC - 29
PDTRA - 45
PowerCom - 28

This is a grand total of 180 cars, but, in reality about 120 different Grand Nationals, running at (5) different tracks on (2) different nights.

Recent rules committee meetings have indicated that general opinions have indicated most tracks are striving toward a common set of rules.

Our goal at M/R Racing is to try to get together all tracks currently running the Grand National style cars, to try to ensure a standard set of rules, and even an overall Board of Advisors to ensure this class stays intact in this region. If this regional class can come across a standard set of rules, it will be stronger than most national set rules.

The way the rules are written also allows the IMCA style Stock Cars to participate, which opens another approximate 75ish cars in the region. If there was a mid-week show in Eastern Wisconsin looking for a large filler field or possibly a head-liner, this class could realistically be a 100+ car field, if all on the same playing field.

Tech inspectors, Jerry Preisgen-PowerCom & CCRA, Jeremy Woolvard-PTDR, Jeff Lemiesz-Oshkosh, and Dick Piel-EWSC, are the (4) primary inspectors of these (5) tracks.

We are having the tech inspectors along with representatives from each track available to answer questions and organize the discussion of the meeting.

We are organizing a meeting to try to keep all tracks on the same page, the preliminary meeting will be held at Racer's Hall in Plymouth on August 16th, at 7:30 p.m. There is plenty of room at Racer's, so we wish all drivers, crews, and anyone interested in the future of the Grand National division to attend.

Currently there are a few discrepancies that are allowing some cars to run at one track and not another. Whether right or wrong this problem needs to be nipped in the bud right now, or next year there will be less and less cross-over until all (5) tracks only have their own (15) cars each.

If you have any questions please give Bob or Mick a call at M/R at 920-528-7090.
