Driving Rain Stops Racing for Second Week
By Mary Horneck
Manitowoc, WI.; July 1, 2006 - Severe thunderstorms again interrupted the Eastern Wisconsin Stock Car Program at the Manitowoc County Expo. Before the “Severe Weather” sirens on the Expo grounds cancelled the race program, fans were able to get their “racing fix” with qualifying and heat races but the show was not complete at the time it was called so tickets and pit passes are good for next week’s race. All ticket holders and pit pass holders need to represent their tickets/pit passes at the gate next week.

Just after qualifying, a presentation was made to a favorite EWSC fan by the newly formed Eastern 8 drivers. 6 year old Matthew Erickson of Manitowoc and his parents, Mark and Angie Erickson, were presented with funds raised by the Eastern 8 drivers for Matthew.

In October 5, 2006, Matthew was diagnosed with cancer and has received 50+ radiation treatments. Matthew, his parents and grandparents were treated to the best “seats” of the house as they watched the heat races from the infield at the Manitowoc County Expo.

Peter’s Pantry Night will be rescheduled and announced at an upcoming race. The items already donated to Peter’s Pantry will be brought to them to be added to the next donation night.

Eastern Wisconsin Stock Cars also announced the “EWSC Connects” special. During the month of July, EWSC will be collecting items for our troops currently serving in Iraq. Collections will begin at the July 8th race. A list of eligible and needed items is available on the EWSC website (ewscracing.com) starting this week and at the race track during any race program.

Join Eastern Wisconsin Stock Cars on Saturday, July 8th for the Pat Rand Memorial Race of Champions when the Winged Super Modifieds will race Twin 22 A-Mains in honor of the Pat’s retired Modified number 44. Grandstands open at 5 pm with the “Driver Meet & Greet” beginning at 4:30 pm. Qualifying begins at 6 pm and racing at 7 pm.
